Eid al-Fitr is celebrated on the 1st of Shawwal, marking the end of Ramadan. It is a day of gratitude to Allah for enabling us to complete the month of fasting.
The day begins with the Eid prayer, performed in congregation. Before the prayer, Muslims pay Zakat al-Fitr — an obligatory charity ensuring everyone can celebrate. The Prophet ﷺ encouraged wearing one's best clothes, eating before the prayer, and taking a different route home from the mosque.
It is a day of family gatherings, gift-giving (especially to children), and spreading joy in the community.
